Saved Sinners

Saved sinners we all are

We are saved eternally

We continue to sin

Daily

The Bible is brutally honest with the

Weaknesses

Failures

Sins

Of our spiritual forefathers

The Spiritual Giants

The Patriarchs

The Apostles

Starting at the very beginning with Adam and Eve

When they listened to the serpent instead of obeying God

Their son Cain killed his brother Abel

After Noah was saved from the flood

He got drunk and lay naked

Yes, even “Father Abraham”

Pimped out his wife

Not only once

But twice

Out of his own cowardice

His son Isaac followed suit and pimped out his wife Rebekah

Also because of his cowardice

His son Jacob stole Esau's birthright with the help of Rebekah

Jacob’s ten sons sold their brother Joseph into slavery

Out of their jealousy

The stories go on and on throughout the Old Testament

Sins and foibles recorded for all to see

In the New Testament

The Apostles fought with one another

Endlessly

Vying for a higher position

Tried to shoo little children away from Jesus

Denied Jesus and abandoned Him when Jesus was arrested

Couldn’t believe that Jesus actually resurrected after three days

Church history carried on the theme of

Failures of spiritual giants

Even our spiritual leaders

When we look to people

We are disappointed

Even disillusioned

How could he

How could she

People we looked up to

People in whom we place our faith and trust

How could they stumble

and stumbled us in the process

And then we look at ourselves

We know better than to continue with our

disobediences and indulgences

We know better than to continue to feed our predilections

We know better than to ignore the sick and the needy

We know better than to pretend injustices don’t exist

We know better than to be prideful

But we continue in our sins

Sins of commission

Sins of omission

We reexamine the spiritual forefathers

And see how God saw them

Abraham believed God will raise his son Isaac

When he laid his only heir Isaac on the altar to be sacrificed

God was pleased with his faith

And Abraham became the “Father of Faith”

The Apostles regained their faith

After Jesus showed His resurrected body

And ate and taught them

And stayed on earth for 40 days

The Holy Spirit came upon the early disciples

And transformed them from within

The Holy Spirit’s anointing is no longer just upon the believers

The Holy Spirit and the anointing are now within them

The Holy Spirit is now within us

Transforming us

Even as we continue to battle with our proclivities to

Overindulge

Disobey

Sin

We have moments and days of obedience

We have moments and days of failures

God still loves us

The Holy God through the Holy Spirit Who indwells us

Enables us to have a relationship with the Holy God

Where once the Holy cannot coexist with the unholy

Once we’ve accepted the work

Completed on the cross

 By Jesus Christ

God Himself

The Holy Spirit comes into us and abides with us

It is because of the Holy Spirit that we can have intimacy with

The Holy God

Because what God sees in us

Is the blood of Christ covering us

God sees His holiness reflected in the Holy Spirit dwelling in us

God sees us as holy

Sinners saved by grace

Holy and pure like God is holy

Holy God living with us sinners

Saved by grace

Saved sinners are we

Loved by God continually
