The Sovereignty of God

God is sovereign

We are not

God is in charge of our

Past

Present

Future

We only have our present moment

We can plan

Hope

Dream

For what we desire

God has the final say on our plan

Hope

Dream

And desires

For we do not have the final say over

Our life

Our very breath

We naively plan and say

Tomorrow we will go there and do that

We will start a business and do well at it

Heavenly beings scoff at our naivety

Who do we think we are

We who can’t even guarantee our next breath

We do not know that we will see the end of this day

We might not wake up from our sleep tomorrow morn’

When we awake in the morning

We cannot guarantee our heath

Physically

Mentally

Emotionally

Financially

Or even spiritually

We have no control over our future

We only have this moment

For the next moment is not promised us

God is in full control of our

Today

Tomorrow

Eternity

God sees the end from the beginning

God sees everything all in one glance

Our God is

Omniscient

Omnipresent

Omnibenevolent

Omnipotent

If we have no power over our tomorrow

Do we trust in the All Powerful God

To plan for us

To take care of us

To protect us

To provide for us

To be present with us

Because God is loving and good

Do we trust in His love and goodness

To give us what is for our good

Even if for a little while we suffer

Knowing that there will be glory to follow

As silver is refined in the scolding caldron

After the scrapping off the crud that surfaces

Over and over

The Silversmith sees his own reflection in the silver

That’s when the silver is refined

The Silversmith is attentive in this process

For the silver can be injured when it is

under too high a heat for too long

Do we trust in the loving and attentive God

Who, for a while, allows us to suffer

But He is in full control of the heat of the caldron

As He attentively scrap off the crud that surfaces

Making sure that we don’t stay in the heat

for longer than we can bear

Until

He sees His own reflection in us

For the kingdom of God is

Righteousness

Peace

Joy in the Holy Spirit

The Kingdom of God is not

For our selfish pleasure or gain

Are we living for God’s Kingdom and Will

Or for our own pleasure

If we are living for God

He will take care of all of our needs

Therefore

Seek first the Kingdom of God

And His righteousness

And all these things

Our physical

Practical

Day to day

Needs will be

Added onto us

For tomorrow is not promised us

But the sovereign and loving God promises

To be with us

To provide for us

To work in us

Until

He sees His own reflection in us
