Resentment and
Expectations
Resentment
It robs us of our joy
It makes us bitter
It takes away our appreciation
It can make us demanding
and act entitled
It can kill our spirit
It can inflict a lot of pain
to ourselves
and to others
It ruins our relationships
Relationship with God
and with our loved ones
It can control us
And take on a life of its own
The more we fuel it
the more it grows
and takes control
over our soul
Resentment comes from our
expectations
Expectations we are aware of
Expectations that lie
in our subconscious
in our unconscious
Expectations can ruin us
We try to control others with our
expectations
“If you loved me
You’d know
What I think
How I feel
What I want
You’d think
the same
and feel the same
as
Me”
Expectations can cause resentment
And ruin our relationships
Relationship with God
when He doesn’t intervene
Relationship with others
when they let us down
The “cure” to resentment is
to manage our expectations
Choosing to let go of our
expectations
Frees us
to
Appreciate
Treasure
Our loved ones
Our life
God
At all cost
Avoid resentment
by managing
and letting go
of
Our
Expectations
Do not
Go out of our way
to please others
to do for others
Without first
Checking
Our expectations
Without first
Checking
Our expectations
These unchecked expectations
Can cause us
to set
Higher expectations
of
of
Appreciation
Reciprocity
From others
We
Can possibly
Control ourselves
Our expectations
Thoughts
What to do with our desires
Others
We have no control over
How they might
Feel
Think
Perceive us and our intentions
Respond
React in kind
When we choose to
Allow others
To be
Themselves
With their own set of
Feelings
Perceptions
Thoughts
View points
Paradigm
Our loved ones would
Feel free to be themselves
Feel less controlled
by our expectations
And be free
to respond to our
Love
Care
and concern
In whichever way
They
with their own
Issues
Perspectives
Histories
Yes, even their own expectations
Might influence them
To respond
To us
Relationship without unnecessary expectations
Enables both parties to
Appreciate
Treasure
One another
It is filled with
Grace
Mercy
Care
Tenderness
And
Gratitude
Which gives
Life
and represents
God’s
Unconditional Love
For He knew that we are but dust
And yet He loved us enough
to declare that
We are
Fearfully and
Wonderfully made
And loved us enough
To die for us
When we could not save ourselves
Let it go
Let it go
Let go of our expectations
and
Resentment will follow
and fall off
Our soul
And gives room to
Joy
and
Freedom
and
Life
More
Abundantly
