Arrogance is Like the Evil of Idolatry
I Samuel 15: 23a
“For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has rejected you as king.” (NIV)

In Hebrew “Arrogance” is:

To push

To press

Insubordination

Insistence on having our will and desire

Over our submission to God’s will

When we put anyone or anything

Over and above God

And our submission to God’s will

When we place our will

Our own desires

Above and over

God’s will

And we push our will

We press our own desires and agendas

And are insubordinate to God’s will

That

Is

Idolatry

Idolatry is putting any thing or any one

As more important:

In thought

In desire

Values

Decisions

Actions

Than our submission to God

And His will

Today while we hear the Holy Spirit calling

Let us

Turn from our way and

Turn to Him

In full submission

Full surrender

Casting aside our own desires and will

And run toward God

Run to Him

Draw near to God He will draw near to us

Resist the devil and he will flee from us

Today

While there’s time

Turn

And run

Turn from our arrogance

Run to God and His desires for us

For His plan is to

“Bless us and not to harm us

To give us a hope and a future”

Turn from what seems good to us

In our limited view and banal desires

And submit to God

Who wants to give us what is

BEST

Being at the center of His Will

Being in full submission to His Will

For He has the very best in store for us

If only we would

Submit

Turn toward

And be blessed

To fully enjoy

His very best plans

For us
