Inspired by Watchman Nee’s Untitled Poem

God

Out of His love for us

Invites us to join Him

in what He is constantly

Doing

Moving

Effecting

Touching

All of His creation

Us

He invites us to join in His work

As a parent has a young child

to “help out” around the house

More work for the parent to

Instruct

Demonstrate

Gently correct

Supervise

Oversee

Encourage

Praise

the young child learning the ropes

Accomplishing the task is not the concern

It is the child learning to become

Engaged

For the child to gain a sense of

Ownership

Belonging

Capability

Even Mastery

As the parent discreetly cleans up after the child

The parent is glad that the parent-child pair

Were able to bond over

Teaching the child a new task

Helping to build a sense of ownership

Enabling the child to feel a sense of belonging to the family

Develop self-confidence of ability and capability

Empowering the child to gain a sense of mastery

Our Heavenly Father is more concerned about

Who we are

What we become

How we reflect Himself

Than the work we can possibly do for Him

All the work He calls us to

Is for the purpose of

God using the desires He has placed in us

The gifting He has given us

The training He has blessed us

The tasks He has assigned us

To

Work

In

Us

To mold and shape us

To fill in the valleys and to level the hills

To straighten the curves and to make the rough smooth

Things in our character that prevent us from

Fully reflecting

God

Himself

The most effective way we can

Work for God

Is to allow Him to

Work in us

Through the tasks He has set before us

Starting with our obedient response to His voice in our daily life

To our relationships with our family

To our witness with

Our neighbors

Our colleagues

People whom we serve at work

Brothers and sisters at our local church

To the mission field He might call us locally or afar

All of these are so

He can accomplish His Will

On earth as it is in heaven

In our life

As it is in heaven

For we are His workmanship

We are His precious creation

We have been fearfully and wonderfully made

God wants us to know this truth full well

By giving us tasks at hand

In order to mold and shape us

Refining us until

He sees

His own reflection

in us

  2. I love the reminder that the accomplishing of the task is not the goal, but rather the process of reflecting Christ and the development of who we are in Him. So so beautiful!❤️
