The Mark of a Christian

 

The mark of a Christian is one who has a living relationship with Christ

Not just one who attends church

Or serves at church

Or gives to the poor

Or does good

 

Not just someone who reads the Bible daily

Or shares the Gospel openly

 

The relationship is one of

 

Love

Basking

Lavishing

Marinating

In the love of God

 

Reverence and Awe

For Whom God is

The Maker of our lives

The Lover of our souls

The Provider of our needs

The Protector over our lives

The Finisher of our calling

The One approves of us

 

Respecting the Scriptures

As God’s word

As having the final say

Embracing the entirety of the Bible

Not pick and choosing what one prefers

 

Personal and intimacy

Daily

Leaning into God’s bosom and hear His heartbeat

To have one’s heart broken by what breaks God’s heart

To care about what God cares about

Listening for what God is saying

Looking for what He is doing

In one’s life

In the world

 

Being

God’s beloved

Heir of God

Co-heir with Christ

Christ’s witness

Christ’s hands and feet

 

Obedient

Emulating Christ

Doing only what He saw the Father doing

Speaking only what He heard the Father saying

 

Seeking God’s will

For one’s life

For the world

 

The indelible marks of Christ in our lives

Are His

Love transforming us

Truth cleansing us

Holy Spirit empowering us

 

To be

And not so much to do

 

Out of being one in love and obedient relationship with Christ

Fruits will come forth

In the doing

 

Focus on the being

The doing will naturally follow
